It came down to the time when I realised that it was time to begin my designs for my head pieces! The theme is "A Right Royal Affair", and this is for this years prestigious Durban July.
I chose to go with royal blue, imperial purple and of course, gold.
With influences from all different types of royal fascinations such as signet rings, crests and royal carriages, I water coloured away and had fun.
However, for some bizarre reason, my blog will not upload photos, and I have been staring at the photo uploader for an hour. With no joy.
I will make up for all of the missing pictures in my next post.

Garment T.W.O
Garment two is underway, and I must admit I am on the ball. Okay, so it is a jumpsuit, but it has a corset that is made of bamboo fabric (my sewing machine hates me).
So just when we thought we were going to get away with less assignments, another accessory design assignment was given. But that is for another day.
Here are pictures of garment two:

Of course I don't want to give it all away, so that is it for now.

Art week... Pattern week... Garment week!
So this week was visual studies week. I was slightly exhausted by the end of the week, with almost 30 accessory designs, 8 hands and feet, small scale drapery and four mood boards.
It is now time to start our second garment, and I am proud to say that my patterns are complete, and now I can cut out my bamboo fabric to create a jumpsuit.
The jumpsuit is corseted and I am interested to see how it looks when I am complete.
Below are a few images of what I have done:

Outfit one - Complete
I am proud to say that I have finally completed my first outfit. It consists of a chiffon shoulder cape, a snow look linen bustier, a chiffon sleeveless blouse, and mini mat trousers. I am very happy with the outcome, even though some of it was challenging and time consuming. I believe that it came together well, and my expectations of a cohesive look were filled.
It was interesting to see the creative flair from all of my fellow peers, and I am proud to say that if this is what the first garments look like, it is going to be an amazing graduate show.
Below is my first finished garment:

Romantic Poetry
It has been a long week, sewing up my first outfit for my collection. There is a lot of pressure to make it look great, so I seem to be working a lot slower than usual. The bustier and transparent top are just about finished, and I am half way with the trousers. Loads of topstitching... Hell! But I am just hoping the final look pulls all of the pieces together to form a cohesive look.
Another assignment that we have been given is to give more information about our logo for our range. It is interesting to see how one has started with a simple idea, and how it has transformed so dramatically.
This is my logo for my range. It was done on CAD with lace as the background, and roses to match my theme.

* Birthday Shoes *
So it is my birthday today. A whole twenty two... Wow. I have been spoilt rotten today and I have only seen half of the family ;) Yesterday was Easter, so I decided to have a lunch that celebrated Easter and my birthday at the same time. I had a delectable meal, and could barely walk afterwards, I was so full.
Speaking of walking, I got shoes, amongst other beautiful gifts for my birthday. Detailed pumps are all the rage at the moment. They are comfortable, practical and fun to wear. I am so grateful to have them, as it will make that walk to Fedisa every morning so much more comfortable.
Here are some pictures of the shoes :)

Busy week!
Storyboards were finally handed in on Monday after our two week holiday. There was, however, no rest for the wicked, and we were given what felt like 100 new briefs. We had two storyboards due for Friday, and for the first time in my studies, I finished 20 minutes before the time.
The brief was to design transformative clothing. Therefore, we had to take a piece of clothing, and turn it into something else.
The other one was interactive clothing. This is clothing that has a purpose.
My idea was clothing made for our bad economic climate. It was summer clothes that turned into winter clothes and vise versa.
The interactive design had the same approach, but the clothing turned into storage units. The hood was remove, and it became a rucksack.
It was really interesting to think outside the box, and many of my peers had very fun designs. I am surprised that we all had some creativity in us after the 9 storyboards.
Some of our other briefs include accessory and shoe design, as well as life drawings of hands and feet. We have to do this in chalk.... I have such a mental block about chalk. It gives me goosebumps. But... time to get over that I guess :)
I am having major issues with uploading photos at the moment, but will add loads more next time.
